“ Family of 5 dropped in for a drink in the beer garden at lunchtime. Loved the look of the place so booked for dinner that evening. 3 adults and 2 children and all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The roast beer dinner was exceptional. Lovely meat, crisp potatoes and veg. Fairly fussy kids lived their chicken and mozzarella sticks. Attentive service in quaint surroundings. Definitely recommend! ”

“ Visited for dinner to celebrate 3 big birthdays (and the dog's first!) and was impressed. Great pub food and big portions, fish and seafood feature given it's fabulous location. Staff very welcoming to us and our Border Collie, which was also a hit with all the other diners that night. Homely, traditional and cosy, excellent find and thoroughly recommend. ”
“ We booked ahead for the seafood platter and it was fantastic. It was a struggle to finish all the lovely, well prepared fish! Everything was so tasty. The service was first rate; one lady was managing the bar and table covers, and even though it was a busy, sunny afternoon, she was admirable for balancing everything with efficiency and cheeriness. We really enjoyed our experience and would hurry back when next in the area. ”
“ Can't comment on rooms, as just visited for lunch. The location is excellent. The staff are extremely nice & friendly We found the overall service a bit weird. If sitting outside, you have to carry a buzzer that goes off then you have to go back inside to fetch your food & cutlery. Why? A hangover from Covid maybe? The staff come out & clear your table though. Bit irritating as was the noise of buzzers going off. You also can't run a tab. Not unheard of in higher crime areas due to lack of trust, but this is rural Scotland, where we live, and crime is teeny. Food was OK pub fair. We'd come back due to the location and friendliness of the staff. ”
“ Great food again at the steamboat inn. Chicken burger with additional Lockerbie cheddar and Chicken with haggis in a peppercorn sauce. Well presented and reasonably priced. Dog friendly which was great as most of the other patrons had dogs with them too. ”
